Y5/6 Kwik Cricket

The Y5/6 Kwik Cricket Festivals took place in May and June!

Venues included Leeds Mods CC, Pool CC and Ralph Thoresby HS.

The following schools took part:

Pool, Rawdon St Peters, Newlaithes, Holy Name, St Mary's, St Josephs Otley, St Margarets, Featherbank, Yeadon Westfield, West End, Rufford Park, Tranmere Park, Shire Oak, Ireland Wood, Cookridge, Sacred Heart and Adel St John.

Rawdon St Peters and Horsforth Newlaithes qualified through to the Leeds Final.

The finals took place at Weetwood CC.

Wimbledon Tennis Celebration Events

30th June 2016

West End, St Margarets and Featherbank Primary schools attended a fun tennis skills event at Horsforth Tennis Club.  With Rawdon St Peters and Rawdon Littlemoor participating at events held at Rawdon Tennis Club.

Horsforth & Rawdon Tennis club provided exciting tennis multi-skills events to Y3/4 children from the local schools in celebration of Wimbledon.  Children played cardio tennis, jail, and mini tennis games. 

Active Schools Conference September 2015

Attended by Alice Clayton and Leah Delahay Y12 and Isabelle Palmer Y10.

The Active Schools conference took place Friday 25th September at John Charles Centre for Sport.  Presenters included Baroness Sue Campbell, Olympic Swimmer Steve Parry, triathlete Alistair Brownlee and former student Megan Casey.  The conference was a celebration and promotion of physical activity attended by primary teachers.

Our students were interviewed and asked to talk about their leadership and performing experiences.  They spoke with confidence in front of an audience of 300 candidates and were fantastic representatives of St Mary's.

Leeds North West SSP Y5/6 Kwik Cricket


Local primary schools have taken part in Y5/6 Cricket Festivals at Pool CC, Horsforth CC and Ralph Thoresby HS over the last two weeks.  We have been fortunate to have fantastic weather and also have our competitions hosted by our amazing cricket clubs and Ralph Thoresby.

Tranmere Park and Pool PS have qualified through to the Leeds Kwik Cricket Final next Friday!  Rawdon St Peter's also qualified, but unfortunately cannot attend.

 

Leeds Y5/6 Hi 5 Netball Final


The Leeds Y5/6 Hi 5 Netball Final took place, Monday 8th June, at Leeds Becketts University

Schools competing for a place in the West Yorkshire School Games; Woodlesford, Froebelian, Wigton Moor, Kippax Greenfield and Stanningley.

The standard of netball was very high with some really exciting close games.

Kippax Greenfield and Frobelian finished the group stage on the same amount of points and are both through to the West Yorkshire Summer School Games next month!  Froebelian achieved 1st place on goal difference.

We wish both teams the best of luck!

Leeds School Games Cycling Competition at Wharfe Meadows in Otley.

Monday 11th May 2015

Eighteen students took part in team and individual mountain bike races yesterday at Wharfe Meadows park in Otley.  The event was delivered by British Cycling in partnership with Leeds SGOs.

"Its fantastic to provide opportunities for students to compete in a sport such as cycling.  Engaging different children then you would normally in traditional sports."

Leeds North West SSP Hi 5 Netball Festivals

250 Y5/6 Pupils participated in the Leeds North West Hi 5 Netball Festivals this week.  Events took place at Prince Henry's, St Mary's, Leeds Trinity and Abbey Grange.

Students from Horsforth HS and St Mary's who have completed the England Netball Youth Umpire Award expertly umpired the games.

Leeds Trinity Event Management Students delivered the event as part of their course.  Everything ran safely and smoothly with plenty of hands on deck!

A glorious sunny day of rugby!

Six Leeds North West Schools enjoyed an afternoon playing tag rugby delivered by Leeds Rhinos Foundation.  The standard of rugby played was extremely high and very competitive.  Players and spectators were blessed with a fantastic sunny afternoon with lots of activity.

St Mary's Horsforth and Rawdon St Peter's will go on to represent Leeds North West SSP in the Leeds Final 21st May at JCCS.

Y5/6 Tag Rugby Festival at Guiseley Rangers RC

Queensway Primary School

Thursday 26th March 2015

Ninety Y5/6 pupils from the following five schools took part in the Y5/6 Tag Rugby Festival at Guiseley Rangers Rugby Club.  We all had plenty of fun despite the diverse weather conditions including; snow, rain, sunshine and high winds!  The event was delivered by the Leeds Rhinos Foundation, and children also took part in a big cheerleading warm up to get them ready for the games ahead.

Leeds Rhinos Community Manager; Jonny Wainhouse commented “Today was about children having a positive experience playing tag rugby in the right environment that Guiesley Rangers have created. Hopefully from today’s event we have engaged more children to stay active and get involved in sport”.
